Weimaraners can be abandoned by their owners due to a number of reasons. One of the most common reasons for placing a dog in a shelter is some change in the owner's lifestyle. When a person can no longer care for the Weimaraner, it is rather sad. However, it should be stressed here that in most cases, there is nothing wrong with rescue dogs. Moreover, taking into consideration a number of stray dogs and shelter dogs waiting for their second chance to be needed again, it is a duty of every potential Weimaraner owner to consider adoption.
Weimaraners are grateful companions and extremely intelligent dogs. Their beautiful aristocratic appearance and low maintenance needs contribute to their advantages. Remember that a rescue dog needs your commitment. This is, for the most part, what the previous owner failed to give to his Weim. Though rescue dogs are often adult dogs, there is no such a notion as a ready-made dog. Be ready to meet with the Weim's unique personality and perhaps, some behavioral problems as well.
A person who works full time and has young children is hardly a person a rescue Weimaraner needs. The worst thing to do in such a situation is to place the Weim in a family similar to the one that abandoned him.
An adoption form allows for understanding whether the Weimaraner is the breed you should look for in rescues and if the environment you can offer is beneficial for you both. A rescue Weimaraner should not be bred. Therefore, most rescue dogs are neutered. The aim is that the most suitable rescue Weimaraners ought to be placed in the most suitable loving adoptive homes.
